Hair Pullers Anonymous

HPA, or Hair Pullers Anonymous, is a 12-step meeting for hair pullers only. This group meets every Wednesday from 7:00-8:00pm. Meetings are held at Youville Hospital on Cambridge Street between Inman and Harvard Squares in Cambridge, MA.  There is no requirement to come every week and new members are always welcome.  Please contact us at the numbers below if you have any questions.  Because we are a small group, we ask newcomers to inform us when they plan to attend their first meeting so that we can ensure that someone will be at the meeting to receive them.

The Monday Night Group for Adult Women

This trichotillomania support group is open to all adult women hair-pullers and meets the first Monday of each month (except major holidays). Meetings are from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at Youville Hospital on Cambridge Street between Inman Square and Harvard Square. Go through the front door of the hospital, go right, take first left, take first left, conference room is on the right.

TSN-THEO - Trichotillomania Support Network - To Help Each Other

THEO celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2003. We have had contact with hundreds of trichotillomania sufferers in and around the state of Michigan, Northern Ohio, and Windsor, Ontario. The group meets on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month at 1:00pm in the Administration and Education Center at Botsford Hospital, which is located on Grand River north of Eight Mile Road in Farmington Hills.

Seacoast Trichotillomania Support Group

We are a FREE peer support group for anyone suffering from Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) in the New Hampshire Seacoast area (including Southern Maine and Northern Massachusetts). We are open to adults and teens with TTM, skin-picking, nail-biting and other body focused related disorders. We meet in the Board Room at the Community Campus in Portsmouth, NH from 6:30-8:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. We have been meeting regularly since 2007-please join us! Please note: The 2nd Monday meeting is open to teens and adults; the 4th Monday meeting is adults only.

The South Jersey/Philadelphia Trichotillomania support group is a free meeting for children, adolescents, and adults living with trichotillomania.  Family members are also welcome.  This therapist-assisted group is led by a member of the Trichotillomania community.  This is not a therapy group, but rather a venue to share experiences and connect with others effected by trichotillomania.  Dr. Deibler will be present at meetings to serve as a facilitator and answer questions.  If you are interested in learning more about the support group, or have any questions, please contact Dr. Deibler.  Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

North Jersey TTM Support Group

The North Jersey TTM Support Group for adults meets once a month on a Thursday night from 7:30-9:30 pm at the homes of some of our members in Essex, Union and Morris counties. New Jersey TTM Support Group for Children/Teens/Adults/Parents

The Bergen County support group is a free meeting for children, teens, adults and parents who suffer with or are affected by Trichotillomania.  This therapist-assisted group is led by a member of the Trichotillomania community.  This is not a therapy group, but rather a venue to share experiences and connect with others in a non-judgmental environment.  Ann Marie Cecere, M.S.W., L.C.S.W. will be present at meetings to help facilitate and answer questions.  Meetings are held once a month on Sunday from 1:30 pm – to 3:30 pm.  Please call or email for date.

The Tuesday Night group is a self-led support group for women with trichotillomania and other body focused repetitive behaviors such as skin-picking.  Meetings are held on Tuesday nights 7:30-9:00 pm in the library at the YWCA, 59 Paul Robeson Place, Princeton.  The group provides a safe, confidential and healing environment where women share personal experiences and develop strategies to manage these disorders.  Please don't be alone any longer! Manhattan / New York City

This peer support group for adults has been meeting weekly in Manhattan since 1996. We follow the standard TLC format of a 'check-in', followed by a general discussion. Each week, approximately 10-15 people attend. There is no requirement to come every week and new members are always welcome. The group is exclusively for people 18 and older who have trichotillomania and/or skin-picking (friends and family do not accompany members). There is no fee. Weekly meetings are Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm and Saturdays 11:00-12:30 at a community center on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

New York Trichotillomania/Skin Picking Meetup Group

The New York Trichotillomania Meetup group is for people ages 18 and older who are living with trichotillomania or skin picking.  The group will be facilitated by Clinical Psychologist and TLC member, Dr. Ori Shinar.

This is not a therapy group, but rather a venue to share experiences and connect with others affected by trichotillomania and/or skin picking.  Dr. Shinar will also provide workshops and answer questions regarding trichotillomania research and treatment.  If you are interested in learning more about the support group, or have any questions, please contact Dr. Shinar, or visit the websites below.

Trichotillomania Support Group of the Carolinas

 

The Trichotillomania Support Group of the Carolinas is comprised of other pullers and pickers of all ages, and their parents, friends, and/or other support people, who believe that supporting each other is a vital step towards recovery. The message board (linked below) is a place to provide loving support to one another in lieu of in-person meetings and to stay up-to-date on events. This is a safe and non-judgmental place to share ideas, strategies, difficulties and successes. We encourage you to ask questions and share insights.
