The four-day Retreat, set in a rustic, natural environment, provides the setting to step away from regular patterns and surroundings and learn useful new skills from some of the world’s most knowledgeable treatment professionals and workshop facilitators.
Workshops by expert specialists and facilitators provide solid education about current treatments, shame reduction, stress management & more, with an emphasis on experiential learning.
Be embraced by the beauty of nature and discover effective pathways to behavioral change, wholeness and recovery. Make new friends, learn new skills, have some fun and open the doors to transformation.

Who Should Attend:
Those with hair pulling and/orskin picking problems, their family members, spouses, or support persons who wish to improve the moment-to-moment experience of living with, and healing from, body-focused repetitive behaviors.
This Retreat is for those who:
- Seek effective tools and a reduction of these behaviors, for yourself or a loved one
- Are weary of living with hair pulling and / or skin picking
- Experience shame, hopelessness, frustration, or other negative states as a result of these behaviors
- Feel as if you have tried everything
- Need a motivational refresher course
- Want to feel whole and comfortable in spite of picking/pulling
- Suffer seeing a loved one struggle with these problems
- Seek a better understanding of how to help your child/adolescent
In honor of TLC’s 20 years of service, and the fact this is our 20th Retreat, we will also have a wonderful birthday celebration. We hope you will join us for this very special program, whether it is your first time, or your tenth time!Â
Schedule
Comprehensive education on Body-Focused Repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) is presented, however the Retreat process also utilizes introspection, contemplation, meditation, and experientially-focused workshops. A primary Retreat goal is to improve the moment-to-moment experience of living with, and healing from, body-focused repetitive behaviors. Workshop topics include:

- Cognitive Behavioral change strategies
- Motivational issues and readiness for change
- Mindfulness and self-awareness training
- Shame reduction and Self-esteem building
- Improving interpersonal communication
- Enhancing self-care
- Makeup application and hair and skin care techniques
- Creative Arts and Crafts
The Retreat schedule is specifically designed to help develop skills and resources for the road to recovery. There is time to swim, hike, relax, get a facial, haircut, or massage (extra fees apply for these services), and even sing karaoke! (These are favorite aspects of the Retreat… )
Retreat Facilitators
The Annual Retreat is facilitated by a hand-selected group of expert clinicians and facilitators. This elite group comprises some of the most knowledgeable and caring group of professionals in the field. Their understanding of these behaviors is rivaled only by the warmth, humor and compassion they bring to each workshop.
To spend time with these presenters in such an intimate environment cannot be replicated anywhere else, and is a priceless opportunity.
TLC’s Annual Retreat offers the only experience of this kind, in the world.
Partial Scholarships & Payment Plans
Generous contributions from TLC donors have established a partial scholarship fund for those needing financial assistance with event registration fees. A limited number of these scholarships are available, and scholarship amounts vary depending on the number of applicants. Applicatons will be accpeted after June 1, 2012. Please check back then for more information.
Payment plans are also available to full-price registrants as well as scholarship recipients. Contact leslie@trich.org for information on any of these programs.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be received in writing via email, mail or fax. Voice-mail messages are not valid or accepted. Cancellation deadline dates are as follows:
- Up to 30 days prior to the event: TLC will cancel your registration and issue a refund of paid registration fees, minus a $25.00 processing fee.
- 14 days prior to the event: TLC will cancel your registration and issue a refund of paid registration fees, minus a $60.00 late cancellation-processing fee, regardless of the reason for the cancellation (including medical emergencies).
- 7 days prior to the event or later: No refunds will be issued, regardless of the reason for the cancellation (including medical emergencies). TLC cannot make exceptions to this policy, as we must prepay most meeting expenses.
