Partial Attendance, Partial Scholarships, and Payment Plans
We encourage you to attend as much of the conference as possible. However, if you are only able to attend for a short period of time, please contact the office directly to register (rates are posted above)..
Partial Scholarships
Generous contributions from TLC donors have established a partial scholarship fund for those needing financial assistance with event registration fees. A limited number of these scholarships are available, and scholarship amounts vary depending on the number of applicants.
To apply, applicants must email a brief statement that includes:
- Why you'd like to attend the Annual Conference
- Why you request financial assistance
- City and State from which you'll travel
- TLC membership is required. If you are not currently a member, your membership fee will be included with your registration costs (plus, members automatically received discounted registration!).
Payment plans are also available to full-price registrants as well as scholarship recipients. Contact leslie@trich.org for information on any of these programs.
Medical Student/Resident Scholarship
TLC's Medical Student Scholarship fund is a donor-funded program that will provide for the travel, accommodations and registration fees for one medical student or resident to attend TLC's Annual Conference, April 29 - May 1, 2011, in San Francisco..
To qualify, a pplicants must be currently enrolled as a medical student or in a residency program and have expressed interest in the fields of trichotillomania, skin picking and/or related behaviors. Applicants should also expect to write a summary of the conference highlights within 30 days of the event, which will be submitted for publication consideration in TLC's quarterly newsletter, InTouch.
How to Apply:
Submit a single-page statement that includes:
- Information regarding your interest in this field
- Why you'd like to attend the Annual Conference
- Curriculum Vitae
- Projected costs of attendance

Applications will be reviewed by members of TLC's Board of Directors; the award recipient will be notified by February 19, 2011.
Continuing Education
This program is sponsored by the Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington (Silver Spring, MD) and the Trichotillomania Learning Center, Inc. (Santa Cruz, CA). The Behavior Therapy Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Behavior Therapy Center maintains responsibility for the portions of the program offering continuing education. For LPCs and LCSWs, these credits should meet your licensing Board requirements. If you have any questions, please check with your own agency for verification before registering to receive continuing education at the conference.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be received in writing via email, mail or fax. Voice-mail messages are not valid or accepted. Cancellation deadline dates are as follows:
Up to 30 days prior to the event: TLC will cancel your registration and issue a refund of paid registration fees, minus a $25.00 processing fee.
29-10 days prior to the event: TLC will cancel your registration and issue a refund of paid registration fees, minus a $60.00 late cancellation-processing fee, regardless of the reason for the cancellation (including medical emergencies).
10 days prior up through event date: No refunds will be issued, regardless of the reason for the cancellation (including medical emergencies). TLC cannot make exceptions to this policy, as we must prepay most meeting expenses.
